Versatile Blogger Award!

If you haven't checked out the Matryoshka Doll Beauty blog yet, then seriously, you need to head over there right now! Her blog is amazing, and she was also kind enough to pass the "Versatile Blogger Award" on to me! Yay! Thank you so much!

There are a few rules for this award:

1) Thank and link back to who gave you the award

2) Share 7 things about yourself

3) Answer 10 questions

4) Pass it along to 7 beauty blogs you've recently discovered and enjoy

5) Leave your recipient a note telling them about the award

That's it for the rules, so let's get started!

7 Things About Me

1) If someone had told me one year ago that I was to become so very interested in makeup as I am today, I would have laughed pretty hard!

2) I really do believe that chocolate can cure almost anything :)

3) I can never resist buying a cute-looking teddy bear. No, I'm not too old yet!

4) I deliberately do not try to make sense out of everything - I don't think Life makes sense. That is why it is so beautiful.

5) I love looking at old photos. They don't even have to be of people I know - I love imagining what their life was maybe like. What is their story? What did they do, whom did they love?

6) I love the eyelashes on my right eye, but I think the left ones look kind of funny... what's up with that?!

7) I love to just think. Sometimes I get so caught up in it that I completely forget where I am, stop listening to what people are saying around me and even though my eyes are open, I can't really see what is right in front of me... which is unlike me, because I'm usually a very focused person!

10 questions

1) Why did you create this blog?

I guess because I believe that I have something to share with the world. I decided to just give it a try, and now I really love it, so I'm glad I tried it!

2) What kinds of blogs do you follow?

Mainly beauty blogs. But they have to have character to them!

3) Favourite makeup brand?

Now that's an easy one :) Yup, you guessed it. Christian Dior :)

4) Favourite clothing brand?

Not really... if I see a cute store I'll wander in and see if there's something I like there. I also like vintage. I rather shop according to my style than to some particular brands.

5) Your indispensable makeup product?

You want me to choose just one?! Geez! *headache* I would have to say my pinkish red lipstick from Dior - it always makes me feel so good when wearing it.

6) Favourite colour?

Green. All shades of it!

7) Favourite perfume?

I love Dior's Miss Dior, as well as the one by Dolce & Gabbana with the red cap on it.

8) Favourite film?

I really like The Guardian, starring, amongst others, Kevin Costner. But I do like many kinds of films, so I'm not saying it is my absolute favourite - just an example of one that I like :)

9) What country would you like to visit?

I would love to see as many places in the world as I possibly can - I can't pick just one!

10) Would you rather forget to put mascara on one eye or forget blush on one side of your face?

I would definitely forget the mascara but remember the blush - looking blushed on one side only sounds horrifying :) Besides, I'm a brunette and my lashes are dark, so I doubt that many would notice the lack of mascara on one eye.

7 Amazing Blogs to Check Out!

Getting to Know Me from a Blog Award

First of all thank you so much, Hebridean Sprite, for tagging me to do this fun tag! It means a lot to me :)

1) Why did you create the blog?
Well, I had fallen in love with so many amazing beauty blogs, as well as beauty channels on YouTube, and had been reading and watching them for some time, when I realized that maybe someone would like to read what I have to say, too. Also, taking part in the online beauty community is just a truly amazing experience.

2) What kind of blogs do you follow?
Mainly beauty blogs, but I also have one that covers interior designing... I would love to add to my list of "blogs to follow", though, so any suggestions would be well appreciated!

3) Do you have a favourite makeup brand?
*smile* Yes. Dior :)

4) A favourite clothing brand?
Hmm... I'm not very strict about where my clothes come from, as long as they fit me and my style... I don't think there is one clothing brand that I would choose over the other.

5) What makeup products are essential for you?
Concealer (if I had little sleep, that is), powder foundation, blush, mascara, lip stick.
I usually wear powder foundation for everyday use, since it's quicker than a liquid one and I don't need that much coverage. Blush is a must for me, and so is lip stick. I could maybe skip mascara... but I love it too much :)

6) What's your favourite colour?
Green. All shades of green, from light green, to mint green, moss green and all the way over to dark green. It used to be purple, then it became blue, and now it is green. Green makes me so happy!

7) What's your favourite perfume?
It's a tie between Dolce and Gabbana's perfume, the one with the red cap on it, and Dior's Miss Dior.

8) What's the film you like the most?
I'm really not someone who only watches romantic movies, or only horror movies, or only this or only that... I enjoy most kind of movies, so that makes it hard for me to pick just one... But I have to admit that one of my favourites is The Guardian from 2006, starring, amongst others, Kevin Costner. This is a heart-breaking and heart-warming tale of a young man who joins the coast guard, and an older man who trains him and teaches him some hard lessons about life and love. Really something you should see.

9) What countries would you like to go to?
So many! To name a few: Italy, especially Rome after having learned so much about the ancient Roman Empire. Also France (Paris and the countryside!), as well as exploring Germany better... and I'd love to go to Scotland again!

Again, thank you so much, Hebridean Sprite, for tagging me! I tag... drumrolls please...

Matryoshka Doll Beauty and Starberry Sugar!

Tag: Holiday Edition!

It seems to me that I'm just talking about the Holidays non-stop these days... so when I saw this tag that has been going around YouTube, I had to do it! Enjoy :)

1) Which holiday do you celebrate?
I celebrate Christmas (we don't have Thanksgiving in Iceland). The main event is on the evening of the 24th, when Christmas officially 'arrive' at six o'clock. We have dinner together, and afterwards we open our presents. This is, in my opinion (probably because of all the excitement when I was younger) the most magical evening of Christmas.
On New Year's Eve, we typically have some of our family come visit, we eat dinner together and then we go out and shoot some fireworks (do you say it that way?!) into the starry sky. We also sometimes go and check out the big bonfire, which is down by the sea.

2) What are you doing for the holidays this year?
Well, what I always do: Stay at home with my family. For me, a huge part of that Christmas-mood is the traditions. How we decorate out tree, when we decorate it, what we cook for dinner and what we make for a desert... those things bring out memories of my childhood, so I don't think I would ever want to miss them.

3) What's your favourite holiday drink?
Hot chocolate with a bit of peppermint! Sipping that when it's snowing outside, with Christmas carols playing, and a pile of Christmas gifts on the floor, ready to be wrapped... that's the true December-feeling for ya!

4) Candy cane or Gingerbread men?
Candy canes are not common in Iceland, so I'm going to have to say Gingerbread men. Just the simple act of baking them, together with your family, is so heart-warming. Not that I don't like candy canes, though, especially for baking, and stirring my hot cocoa!

5) What's your favourite Christmas song?
I love so many! I really like Feliz Navidad, as well as Santa Baby. We also have some Icelandic ones which I really like. And not to forget O holy night!

6) What's the weirdest gift you've ever received?
I don't think I've ever received a seriously weird gift... except for that huge, furry hat three years ago, maybe...

7) Have you ever made a snowman?
You kidding? I live in Iceland. Yes, I have made a snowman!

8) What's your favourite winter fragrance?
Does peppermint count? Or is that just a taste? I also really like cinnamon, as well as the scent you get when roasting nuts for Christmas!

9) What is at the top of your list this Christmas?
Referring to my Christmas Wish List, I say love and peace.

10) What is most important to you about the Holidays?
Being around my family... I feel as I keep repeating it, but if so, then that is just because it is truly how I feel.

So, that's it! I tag all of you to do this video, and if you do, then please let me know in the comments, so that I can read it!

Yours,
Miss Diorista

Tag: Autumn in... Reykjavík, Iceland (and an update!)

I love fall, and I always enjoy looking at pictures of fall... so I though I'd start a tag called Autumn in... (the city's name here). I'm going first, but please make me really happy by doing this tag ;) I also just uploaded my first YouTube video! It is the same tag, just a video version of it. My username there is MissDiorista, but you can also find the video here. Please comment on it, also wouldn't hurt to subscribe to me there :)
I might upload some more videos on YouTube, but my blog will always be my main place to be!But enough of that, let's dive into autumn!
First up is this beyond cute cat! She´s really living autumn to its fullest potential, hiding inside this bush kind of thing :)
I took this picture because of all the leaves. I love leaves!
This picture is taken near the university. Those students you see there looked at me like I had just landed from some foreign planet, filming videos and taking pictures like a maniac :)
I love this picture, but I can't figure out how to turn it the right way... so tilt your head, or your computer, ok? ;) It is down town, the pond to the left is Tjörnin (means "The Pond"), and the church is Hallgrímskirkja, one of the most famous churches in Iceland.

Finally, this big red building is the National Library, or Þjóðarbókhlaðan. I love this building :)

That is it for the pictures, but please go and check out my video on YouTube!

Also, tell me, did you like this tag? Are you going to do it? Tell me in the comments if you do, so that I can read/watch it!

Yours,

Miss Diorista.

Tag: Would You Rather - Beauty Edition

This fun tag has been going around YouTube for some time now, and I love watching those vids! Even though I find my own answers to be quite similar to most of other people's, I still really wanted to do this tag - enjoy!

1. Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice makeup, or nice hair and no makeup?

Def messy hair and nice makeup. That is really what I do most of the time! I love doing my makeup. 20 to 30 minutes on makeup, 3 minutes on hair!

2. Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?

I don't want to lose either of those! However, if I had to pick, then I would like to keep my lashes and lose my brows. I could paint them back on, but eyelashes are really such a beautiful part of a woman's face... and I also think that for most makeup-loving gals, eyelashes are important for good self-esteem!

3. Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?

We don't have Sephora here in Iceland, but we have similar stores... and I think I'm saying Sephora here... there are items from MAC that I love and would never want to be without, but Dior products are a must for me. Also, I've heard that the mascaras from MAC are awful. Haven't tried them, though. But def Sephora - hellooo Dior!

4. Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80'perm?

80'perm, I think. It doesn't even look that horrible to me. I hate it when my lipliner shows. I do use lipliner almost daily, but if I don't own a perfect match to my lipstick, I use clear liner.

5. Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?

Overdone blush! If there's one thing I don't like, it is foundation lines! Plus, overdone blush is easy to fix if you have a paper towel with you.

6. Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?

LOL! Both look... oh well, I'm gonna shut my mouth about it! I don't like the idea of either one, but biker shorts could possibly be styled a bit... MC Hammer pants would just turn me into a sack of potatoes! So I'd rather wear biker shorts.

7. Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?

If you tan, you get tan lines. Simple. Everyone gets them! So that is really no big deal. However, looking like an orange in full bloom, is just really not nice. Tan lines is my answer here.

8. Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?

You can always die your hair again after a few days, but a bad hair cut can't really always been fixed until a few weeks later. I've tried a bad haircut and waiting for my hair to grow was awful! So I'd rather have a bad hair color.

9. Would you rather have YouTube or Twitter taken away forever?

I don't even own a Twitter account, so there's your answer! I love YouTube, because of all the opportunities! You can listen to music, comedy, learn stuff or just watch vlogs... whichever I choose, YouTube always has something for me!

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?

Ugh - I love both so much! I have dark lashes, so until recently, I found mascara to be just pure luxury for me. However, I can't be without it these days, so even though I love my makeup brushes, I think I'd let them go. You can use your fingers for foundation, blush, eye shadow, and even bronzer... so I don't think I'd hit a brick wall.

Whew, we're done! I loved doing this tag, and I tag everyone who wants to do it. So right now, I'm tagging you! Please let me know in the comments if you did this tag - I'd love to read it!

My best regards,
MissDiorista

P.S. The big haul is on its way - and so is my "July favourites" post - please excuse my lazyness, lol!

Tag: Top 10 Summer Products!

I found this tag on YouTube a few weeks ago, and obviously, I'm a little late with it since half of July has already flown by, but still! I have eleven products, actually, but they're still ten... ok?
So let's get this thing started!Starting from the left:

1) Summer foundation. Mine is by The Body Shop (my nice nice aunt gave it to me - thanks!). It is a powder foundation, has very sheer coverage, feels light and gives my skin a healthy glow. You need the kabuki to apply it. Mine is shade 03.

2) Mattifying powder. This is possibly one of the most important things for summer, especially if you have the tendency to "shine"! My powder is by Dior, it is their Dior Diorskin Poudre Compacte, and mine is shade 001. It is sheer, but still gives me a bit of coverage as well as acting as a mattifyer. A standard in my purse!

3) Illuminator. When I'm out in the sun, I want my skin to literally glow, especially my cheeks and cheekbones. You can get powder, liquid or cream illuminators, but personally I prefer powders... No matter what you pick, though, be sure not to pick a glittery one, buy one which gives you that nice glow/sheen/slight shimmer. And remember that less is more, you don't want to look like a disco ball! My favourite illuminator this summer has been MAC's Beauty Powder in Shell Pearl. It was LE and came out with the Liberty of London collection.

4) Natural-Looking Eyeliner. In summer, I don't wanna do the whole dramatic thing with my eye makeup. I save the attention for my bright lips! So my favourite thing for 'a summer night out', is to wear a teeny tiny bit of brown eyeliner, instead of black. You can pick a matte one or one that has glitter/shimmer. I recently bought the Maybelline Line Definer in Brown Bronze Gleam. It is a dark brown with bronzy tones and a bit of shimmer.

5) Tinted Moisturizer. IMO, this is a must for summer! Preferably, pick one with SPF. I don't feel like wearing heavy foundation when it's hot outside, so I wear my tinted moisturizer. Now, you have to realize that I am letting you in on a secret, here... the tinted moisturizer you see above is absolutely... amazing! A dream... It is by Dior (surprise, surprise!) and is from their HydraLife skincare range. It is called Dior Pro-Youth Skin Tint. Mine is in shade 1, and it has SPF 20, which I love! This gives me the perfect coverage, evens out my skintone, gives me a glowy look, and is extremely moisturizing. Ok... I'll stop obsessing about it now... did I mention that I love it? And that applying makeup on top is easy peasy?! Ok... I know, I said I'd stop... I'll write a review on it soon!
1) Makeup Remover Wipes. A must-have when you're on vacation or just don't have time to do the whole thing. In summer, I want to spend most of my time having fun, not removing my makeup! So I love those, they are from Preven's Paris. Of course, washing your face with wipes every night is not a good idea, since it doesn't, IMO, do quite the same thing as a cleanser would. But two or three nights a week, three months a year, is no biggie!

2) Light-Catching Lipgloss in a Light Colour. I want my lips to look like precious jewels in the sun... lol! Well, maybe that was a bit too poetic for a beauty blog, but you get the idea! Mine is L'Oréal's 6H Glam Shine, in Forever Nude. I love it, feels nice, lasts decently, can be worn over lipstick, or alone.

3) Bright Lipgloss. I love bright and bold lips for summer. Why not make a statement? This summer´s pick was The Body Shop's Love gloss in shade 18, called Tropical Pink. It is not pink. That is simple! It is a bright coral colour, almost orange... but very wearable, yet bright. It is has shimmer (you have probably picked up on it by now, that I love shimmer!). If you look at the swatch on TBS website, then know that the gloss is way brighter in real life than it seems there!

4) Bright Lipstick. Yes. I love bright lips, so bright lipstick are love... My favourite for this summer is L'Oréal's Glam Shine Crema in Hot Lilac (check out my review!). It is a bright, glittery lilac colour.

5) Light-Catching Lipstick in a Light Colour. Light-catching, meaning shimmery and pretty... Mine is MAC´s Lipstick in Beachbound, LE from the To The Beach Collection. It looks like a simple nude indoors, but in the sun, it. is. beyond. beautiful. Period.

6) Nailpolish in a not-tradiational-summer-colour... long, and hard to figure out? No. Not at all! Just pick a colour that seems fun to you, but is not the summery pink/coral/red. My fave these days is the OPI Chicago Champagne Toast. It is very pretty and yes, has a sheen/shimmer to it!

So that is all. Please tell me your must-haves for summer, do this tag and let me know in the comments below! Or do you want a review on any of the products? Comment and tell me!

Yours,
Miss Diorista

So here we go!
